For more than 50 years, dentistry has sought a more conservative approach to replacing a single missing tooth versus a conventional fixed prothesis, which involves the cutting of sound tooth structure. Treatement possibilities have evolved from bonding a natural extracted tooth or a composite resin restoration to the adjacent teeth, to the adhesive bridge, and lately to the single-implant-supported crown.
