Zoom sur le TP Prothèses sur implants [Focus on the lab "Prosthetic implants"]
Corinne Touboul and Hadi Antoun, Lab work 1 scientists
We will start with a first dynamic unit --in the form of a short and concise introduction from each of the speakers of this lab-- which will serve as a reminder of the fundamental basics to prosthetic implants. The importance of the prosthetic project and the various prosthetic options (screwed prosthesis, cemented prosthesis, overdentures) will be addressed as well as impression or bite registration techniques and the choice of prosthetic abutments. The participants will also be offered a small tour of the laboratory. The approach will focus on a very practical application that will detail the clinical stages of single and plural restorations, the bite registration technique--crucial in implantology--, and screwed or cement installation.
Two major implant systems, Mis and Nobel Biocare, will be handled by the participants who will be asked to make an open and closed impression without any risks of coping repositioning error. Furthermore, participants will be guided in the installation of a cemented prosthesis which consistently presents a perfect adaptation on its abutment. They will learn how to use Locator® abutments on removable prosthesis and how to master the Procera® system or screwed prosthesis.
The obvious goal consists of manipulating to learn--or to correct flaws--and put to practice the teachings from this lab work as soon as possible. The day will end with a discussion during which the speakers will answer questions and comments of the participants, who will receive a summary document at the end of the session.
This lab work is fundamentally practical and has the objective of clarifying and simplifying the various stages of prosthetic implants
